Content Description
The Summers family was an African-American family that grew up in Orangeburg, SC. The Rev. James A. and Rebecca Summers had Leona, James, Lucille, and Margaret. James Jr. was a solider stationed at Camp Croft during World War II and Lucille was a teacher in Spartanburg in the 40s. Leona was a teacher at Cummings Street School and Carver High School for many years. This collection consists of three letters written to Leona. There is one identified photograph of Lucille and one of James Jr.....
