Content Description
William Howard Taft was the president of the United States from 1909 to 1913. In November 1909, Taft became the first standing president to visit the city of Columbia, SC since Washington in 1791. This collection consists of one oversize photographic print produced by Columbia Photo Studio depicting President William Howard Taft riding in an early model automobile during this visit. The photograph may have been taken at the State Fairgrounds where Taft gave a speech.
