Joseph Nohra Camp Croft photographs

Content Description Joseph Nohra was a soldier stationed at Camp Croft during World War II. This collection consists of twenty photographs that Nohra acquired during his time in service. Twelve are reprinted photos depicting soldiers in Spartanburg and training at Camp Croft during World War II. One notable image shows the "Spartanburg Fair Negro Entrance." Eight of the photos were taken overseas depicting soldiers on parade, captured German planes and tanks.

Pearson was a Woodruff, South Carolina native active in France during 1944 and 1945 as part of the 249th Combat Engineers Battalion. Content Description William Howard Taft was the president of the United States from 1909 to 1913. In November 1909, Taft became the first standing president to visit the city of Columbia, SC since Washington in 1791. This collection consists of one oversize photographic print produced by Columbia Photo Studio depicting President William Howard Taft riding in an early model automobile during this visit. The photograph may have been taken at the State Fairgrounds where Taft gave a speech.
