Biography
James “Jim” Sherer Barrett was born in 1934 in York County, South Carolina. He was a graduate and former employee of Wofford College. Later in his career he served as the president of Spartanburg Methodist College. Barrett also served as executive director of the Spartanburg County Foundation for twelve years, until his retirement in 1997. In 1996 he became the first recipient of the E. Lewis Leadership Award. Barrett died in June 2007 in Waynesville, North Carolina.
