Barnet, William "Bill"
Biography
William “Bill” Barnet was born in 1942 and grew up in Upstate New York. He moved to Spartanburg in the mid-1970s to oversee the operation of Barnet Co., a synthetic fibers business. He later became involved in development and investments. Barnet was elected mayor of Spartanburg in 2001 as a write-in candidate. He served as mayor for eight years, leaving office in January 2010. He is the husband of Valerie Manatis Barnet.

Toast of the Town dvds
The Spartanburg Salvation Army hosts an annual fundraiser, The Toast of the Town, where a prominent Spartanburg resident is roasted. This collection consists of three videos of the fundraiser from the years that Will Barnet, Dr. Benjamin Dunlap, and Jack Roper were roasted.
