Biography
William L. Ball, III (1948-) served as the Secretary of Navy under President Reagan. Ball was born in Belton, S.C. and graduated from Spartanburg High School. He earned his bachelors at the Georgia Institute of Technology, served as a naval officer, and then went to work in Washington D.C. as a staff member for two different senators. He held various posts in the Reagan administration before finally being appointed Secretary of the Navy in 1988, an office he held until 1989. Since then, Ball has served on various foundations and lives with his family in Alexandria, Virginia.
