- Existence: 1899 - 1988
Harry M. Arthur was born in Union County, South Carolina in 1899. He was the son of Joseph Dogan Arthur and Alice Elizabeth Moore. Upon graduation, Arthur returned to Union and opened Arthur’s Stores, which eventually expanded to additional locations in Pacolet, Jonesville, Lockhart, Camden and Cheraw. When the Great Depression left Union County without a financial institution, Arthur decided to open his own bank.
