James O. Erwin negatives and prints

Small collection of glass negatives, film negatives and photographic prints made around 1916 and 1917. Photographs appear to have been made by James O. Erwin, Jr. Subject matter includes motorcycle races at Spartanburg fairgrounds (1916), fire company practice at fairgrounds, daytrips in early automobiles, World War I soldiers and nurses, J. O. Erwin home at 493 East Main St. in Spartanburg, and tennis scenes. James O. Erwin Jr. was the father of Jean Erwin, from whose estate this collection comes. Collection includes CDR with selected scans and original paper sleeves from Ligon's Drug Store.

Condition Description

Overall quite good. The emulsion is partially loose on one or two glass negatives and some of the prints exhibit silvering.
