Moonshine raid photograph
Single photograph of still and moonshine materials gathered in a raid and displayed on the steps of Spartanburg City Hall. Photograph was made by Alfred Willis on the morning of May 6, 1930. Spartanburg Journal newspaper article of May 6, 1930 identifies the image as showing the contents of an illegal distilling operation seized from the second story of the home of J. F. Jenkins at 364 Marion Avenue. Five people were arrested and soon after the image was made, the whiskey and mash were poured into the city's sewer system.
